KEENEY AND BEDGGOOD STAND TALL ON DAY OF DIVING DRAMA

Divers Maddison Keeney and Domonic Bedggood were the stand-out performers on another drama-filled day at the Rio qualification event in Melbourne. Keeney was dominant in a world-class 3-metre springboard final and looks almost certain to be heading to her first Olympics.

THIRD OLYMPICS BECKONS FOR DIVER MELISSA WU

Two time Olympian Melissa Wu looks set to go to her third Olympics after a dramatic day of diving at the Rio qualification tournament in Melbourne. Wu dominated all three rounds of the 10-metre platform competition, posting comfortable wins and meeting all the criteria required to earn nomination to the Australian Olympic Committee.

KEENEY AND BEDGGOOD THE STANDOUT PERFORMER AT RIO DIVING TRIALS

Commonwealth Games medallists Maddison Keeney and Domonic Bedggood have taken the first steps toward possible Olympic nomination with strong performances on day two of the Rio qualification event in Melbourne. Keeney finished first in both the preliminary and semi-final rounds of the women’s springboard competition, while Bedggood was the standout performer in the men’s platform.

CHAVEZ MAKES HIS MARK IN FIRST EVENT FOR AUSTRALIA

Kevin Chavez, who was cleared to dive for Australia just ten days ago, sits at the top of the springboard leaderboard after the first day of competition at the Australian Olympic selection trials in Melbourne. Chavez, who was born in Mexico, received the all-clear from diving’s world governing body, FINA, to try and qualify for Rio.

FUTURE COMMONWEALTH GAMES DIVERS HEAD TO EUROPE The future of Australian diving will be on display over the coming fortnight, with 13 of the country’s most promising junior divers competing in major European events. The junior team will compete in the Amsterdam Diving Cup in the Netherlands from April 14-17, and then travel to Dresden to compete in the International Youth Diving meet from April 21 until the 24th.

Diving World Series - Dubai

WU PICKS UP ANOTHER WORLD CLASS DIVING BRONZE Australian diver Melissa Wu has added another pre-Olympic bronze medal to her collection with a strong showing at a World Series event in Dubai overnight. Once again it was a pair of Chinese divers who denied Wu a top-two placing, echoing results from this year’s World Cup and Beijing World Series events. 23-year-old Wu finished less than 15 points behind Chinese gold medallist, Huixia Liu, with fellow Chinese diver Yajie Si picking up the silver. Wu will be aiming for a third Olympic games this year, and has put her name forward as a genuine medal prospect after consistent top-three performances in Olympic-class fields this year. The Australian Olympic selection trials will be contested in Melbourne in May.

AUSTRALIA SENDS SMALL BUT TALENTED TEAM TO GERMANY
