Diving Australia has today announced that Vyninka Arlow will be the new Brisbane based Elite Pathway Program Coach. Vyninka is well known to Australian Diving both as a coach, and also as an athlete.

As an athlete, Vyninka enjoyed a decorated career including competing at two Olympics (1992 and 1996) and winning a Commonwealth Games Gold Medal in the platform event in 1998.

She then turned her love of diving into a successful coaching career spanning the globe. She has coached in the United Kingdom and Brazil and for the last 9 years has been an Assistant Diving Coach in the world renowned NSWIS Diving Program. Chava Sobrino, DA’s National Coach – Sydney and NSWIS Head Coach was sad to see her go but excited for her. “Vyninka has been a huge part of our NSWIS Team for such a long time and in many ways is invaluable. I will absolutely be sad to see her go, but I am really excited for her to continue her coaching journey with my friend and colleague Ady Hinchliffe (DA’s National Coach – Brisbane) and be a bit closer to family (including Diving Dual Olympian mother Robyn, who lives on the Gold Coast). I am ecstatic she will remain coaching in Australia”.

Ady Hinchliffe was excited to welcome Vyninka to Brisbane. “It was such a strong field of applicants for this role and I am so pleased to have Vyninka accept the position here and I know she will be a huge asset to the Brisbane program. The experience she now has, especially gleaned from Chava for the last 9 years will mean she absolutely hits the ground running. I want to thank Chava and NSWIS for being so good during this process. As the Brisbane Pillar continues to embrace change, Vyninka and her skill set will be vital in making sure we are supporting divers achieve their very best.”

Vyninka herself was keen to get started and paid tribute to NSWIS. “Having been a part of such an excellent program at NSWIS for the last 8 years, I am really looking forward to putting some of that experience into the Brisbane Program – where I trained myself for many years in the Nineties, most of that under the coach I am now replacing, Mr Wang. It is such a great opportunity to work with Ady and I am so grateful at being offered the role. I also want to say a heartfelt thank you to all at NSWIS but especially the Diving Program and most especially Chava, who I consider not only a mentor, but a lifelong friend”.

Vyninka will commence in Brisbane in early October.
