Australian National Squad Member Ross Todd has announced his retirement from competitive diving.

The South Australian has had a successful career as an athlete both in Australia and in the United States highlighted by a FINA World Junior Championships medal, a Big Ten Conference Championship Title, and multiple Junior Elite and Open Australian Championship medals.

Most recently Ross has been a central figure for the University of Michigan Swimming and Diving Team, where he studied psychology prior to his graduation last year.

“It is certainly bittersweet to be retiring from diving, but I will be forever thankful for the sport,” Ross said.

“Diving has taken me places I never thought possible and has allowed me to grow as a person and build lifelong friendships.

“I’d be remiss not to thank my coaches throughout my 17-year career, with a special nod to both Duncan Roy and Mike Hilde, who truly kept my passion for the sport alive for so long.”

Diving Australia General Manager, High Performance and Pathways, Steve Foley, said although Ross will be missed within the diving community, Diving Australia wishes him the very best in his next chapter.

“A huge congratulations to Ross on a fabulous diving career,” Steve said.

“Ross has been a terrific ambassador for Australia both domestically and globally and his contribution to diving in South Australia, the Diving Australia National Squad and of course for the University of Michigan has been immense.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed watching Ross progress to world class standard throughout his career and Ross was one of those rare athletes who, according to his many coaches, was a sheer joy to coach.

“We wish Ross the best of luck in his next chapter and no doubt exciting times ahead."
