Olympic synchro bronze medallists Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith will head Australia’s charge at the opening FINA World Series diving event for 2017 in Beijing this weekend.

Keeney and Smith, who snatched bronze with a dramatic final dive in the 3-metre synchro in Rio, will be part of a five-strong Australian team competing in China.

Fellow Rio Olympians, Domonic Bedggood and Esther Qin, will also compete, along with South Australia’s Taneka Kovchenko.

Bedggood will compete in the men’s platform event, and will also team up with Keeney in the 3-metre mixed synchro and with Kovchenko in the mixed platform events.

As well as the three-metre synchro with Smith and the mixed synchro with Bedggood, Keeney will also compete in the women’s 3-metre with Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Esther Qin.

The Beijing World Series begins on Friday and runs through until Sunday, with the second World Series, featuring the same Australian squad, scheduled for Guangzhou City in China the following weekend.
