TARVIT MAKES IT THREE FROM THREE

Brisbane teenager Lara Tarvit continued her perfect start to 2015 on the weekend at the Queensland Open, winning her third platform title in as many events.

18-year-old Tarvit finished more than 60 points ahead of Olympic silver medalist, Brittany Broben, to add the Queensland Open to the Gold Coast and Brisbane Grand Prix titles she won in January.

The Queensland Open was another step on the long comeback trail for Broben, who is building up strength in her shoulder.

15-year-old Georgia Sheehan tasted double success on Saturday, winning both the 3-metre and 1-metre titles.

Her win in the 3-metre came despite a penalty for a baulk, with her 3-metre synchro partner, Naomi Gowlett, finishing second and Tarvit third.

Sheehan then took out the 1-metre, again finishing ahead of Gowlett.

In the men’s competition, Commonwealth Games gold medalist Domonic Bedggood attracted a perfect 10 on his way to a solid victory in the platform, with Kurtis Mathews second.

Mathews was the only entry in the men’s 3-metre, while Gowlett and Sheehan were the only starters in the 3-metre synchro.
