Quality diving quartet head overseas

Two-time Olympian Melissa Wu heads a strong Australian quartet on its way to Beijing for the opening round of the FINA Diving World Series this weekend.

Joining Wu on Monday's flight to China will be fellow Olympian Anabelle Smith, Commonwealth Games silver medalist Maddison Keeney, and world junior champion, Lara Tarvit.

After diving in Beijing this weekend, the Australians will head to Dubai for round two from March 19 to 21.

Wu returns to the pool after taking a break from the sport over the summer. She'll compete in the individual platform, and will also team up with Tarvit in the platform synchro.

It will be the first competition for the Wu-Tarvit synchro combination, who came together after their regular partners were no longer available.

Teenager Tarvit is undefeated in platform events this year, while Wu has been one of Australia's most consistent divers for the best part of a decade.

Tarvit will also compete in the individual platform events in Beijing and Dubai, the event in which she won gold at last year's Junior World Championships in Russia.

Commonwealth Games bronze medalists Smith and Keeney will compete in the 3-metre synchro, while Keeney has been entered in the 3-metre individual events.
