Open Nationals Wrap Up

Published Sat 26 May 2018

A successful Australian Open Diving Championships has now come to a close and we have crowned our National Champions for 2018.

There were a number of excellent performances across the 4 days of competition and special mention should go to Emily Boyd for strong performances that saw her added to the 2018 National Squad.

Teju Williamson and Emily Meaney dived well in the Women's 10m Synchro event as a new pair. Melissa Wu will not be competing at World Cup needing to take the time to recover from injuries. Teju also won the Women's 10m event in a very good score of 318.10.

Anabelle Smith and Esther Qin also dived very well to take out the Women's 3m Synchro event. Anabelle's usual partner Maddison Keeney is focussing on the individual event at World Cup needing to manage a shin complaint and not do too much diving. Anabelle backed up and put in an great performance to win the 3m National Title.

On the Men's side, Domonic Bedggood was strong in winning the 10m, whilst James Connor was pushed by Matthew Carter all the way before James secured the top step. Dom and Matthew were impressive in the 3m Synchro. Matthew added to his tally by also winning the Mixed 3m with Georgia Sheehan.

Ross Todd and Brodie Scapens took out the 10m Synchro with Brodie doubling up by also winning the Mixed 10m with AnnaRose Keating.
