Following a strong showing at the recent 2021 Australian Open Championships incorporating Nomination Trials, Olivia O’Rourke has been named to the Diving Australian National Squad.

Selection to the Diving Australia National Squad requires outstanding performances across two lists at major domestic and international competitions.

O’Rourke secured her position on the National Squad for the first time from performances at the 2019 Australian Open Championships and the 2021 Australian Open Championships in the Women’s Platform event.

Diving Australia General Manager, High Performance and Pathways Steve Foley said O’Rourke’s addition strengthens an already impressive team.

“Selections like this help us look forward to Paris 2024 and the talent that we will see in the Women’s Platform event,” Foley said.

“We are looking towards Paris and how we can medal at those games, Oliva fits that mould.

“Full credit must go to Chava Sobrino and the NSWIS staff who continues to produce world class athletes.”

O’Rourke said this achievement comes off the back of years of hard work.

“I am very happy and beyond proud to be named on the Diving Australia National Squad,” O’Rourke said.

“I am grateful for all the support from my coaches and teammates and cannot wait for the amazing opportunities being selection on this team will give.

“I am excited to be diving alongside the best athletes within the squad and look forward to the future.”
