MORE SOLID PERFORMANCES FROM AUSTRALIAN DIVERS IN BUDAPEST
Published Tue 18 Jul 2017
Australia’s Olympic bronze medallists, Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith, have just missed a medal in the women’s 3-metre springboard at the FINA World Championships in Budapest overnight.
Smith and Keeney, who finished third at the Rio Olympics last year, finished fourth behind China’s Yani Chang and Tingmao Shi, with Canada taking the silver and Russia the bronze.
Smith and Keeney also finished fourth in the preliminary round.
The new pairing of Domonic Bedggood and Declan Stacey finished a solid eighth in the men’s platform synchro.
Once again it was the Chinese who dominated, with Aisen Chen and Hao Yang winning gold.
Tuesday will see the women’s platform preliminary and semi-final rounds, with Melissa Wu and Taneka Kovchenko diving for Australia.
And it will also see the debut of the mixed tem event, with Wu, in possibly her third event of the day, teaming up with teenage springboard diver Matthew Carter.
