Diving Australia is pleased to announce the return of Mike Martens to the diving community in the part time contract role of National Coaching Coordinator.

Martens has commenced in the role which oversees the development and education of Australian diving coaches nation-wide.

Diving Australia CEO David Bell says Martens brings with him decades of experience in the coaching and coach education sector.

“Mike is a familiar face in diving circles, and it is great to see him return to our community,” Bell said.

“Most will remember Mike from his role as the South Australian Sports Institute head coach where he led Australian divers to substantial domestic and international success.”

“Mike has been a consistent and excellent contributor to our coach education for the past two decades and we look forward to having him lend his time and knowledge once more.

“I would like to say a special thank you to Jodie Gillam who on top of her regular duties ensured the progression of national coach education for the past 12 months.”

Beyond his time at the South Australian Sports Institute, Martens coached at the University of Minnesota and Texas Aquatics in the United States contributing to more than 25 years coaching experience.
