Michel Larouche to retire

Published Thu 08 Feb 2018

Michel Larouche has advised Diving Australia that he will be retiring from diving coaching following the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Michel has been Adelaide National Coach for nearly 4 years and has made a wonderful contribution to Australian diving.

In announcing his retirement Larouche said “I have loved my time in Australia and feel confident that Australian Diving will continue to improve, however it is time that I give back to my family. I have been a diving coach for a very long time and have usually put diving first. I will now put my family first. I will miss Australia very much and particularly the athletes and coaches I work with on a daily basis here in Adelaide. I thank them, Diving Australia, Diving South Australia and SASI very much”

Diving Australia CEO David Bell said “we completely understand and absolutely respect Michel’s desire to spend more time with his family and whilst we are saddened to see him go, we fully support his decision. He leaves with our best wishes and will always be welcome down under”.

DA’s General Manager of High Performance Steve Foley added” Michel has been one of the best coaches in the world for a long time and he has been a huge part of our National Coach Panel. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him since my retun to Australia last year – much more so than working against him the years before that!”

Diving Australia has commenced a search for a replacement for Michel and unfortunately, his replacement will have a large void to fill!
