Diving Australia and Queensland Academy of Sport secure world class coach for Brisbane

Diving Australia and the Queensland Academy of Sport are pleased to announce that Edwin Jongejans, currently the Head Diving Coach of the Netherlands, has agreed to join the coaching team in Brisbane which is led by National Coach, Adrian Hinchliffe.

Edwin, a former World Champion, and two time Olympian, has spent the last 25 years as a high performance coach both in his native Netherlands and also Great Britain where he was instrumental, along with Ady Hinchliffe, in securing Great Britain’s first Olympic gold medal in Diving.

As an athlete, he had a fantastic career, but arguably that has now been superseded by his long list of accomplishments as a coach.

Diving Australia General Manager of High Performance Steve Foley said, on announcing the appointment, “Edwin is a fantastic coach and a fantastic person to have as part of Diving Australia’s coaching setup. We could not be more thrilled to have him join us.”

Pending visa and travel related logistics, Edwin will commence in Brisbane in the first quarter of 2022.
