Queensland teenager Georgia Sheehan will be looking to defend the gold medal she won two years ago when she joins a 15-strong Australian team at the World Junior Diving Championships in Russia next week.
17-year-old Sheehan won gold in the 3-metre springboard at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Penza, Russia, she also picked up a bronze in the 1-metre and a silver in the 3-metre synchro.
Sheehan will compete in the 3-metre, 1-metre and 3-metre synchro in Kazan next week.
She heads to Russia in good form, after winning gold in the 3-metre at the FINA Grand Prix on the Gold Coast last month.
Also competing next week will be South Australia’s Ross Todd, who won bronze in the boy’s 1-metre in Penza. Todd will re-contest the 1-metre and the platform next week.
Also returning after competing two years ago are Brodie Scapens (platform), Kurtis Mathews (3-metre, 3-metre synchro) and Matthew Carter (1-metre, 3-metre and 3-metre synchro).
And in the girl’s competition, Queensland’s Jayah Mathews will be returning, competing in the 1-metre, 3-metre and 3-metre synchro.
Joining Mathews and Sheehan will be Western Australian pair, Nikita Hains (platform) and Tamara Irvine (platform).
