Position Vacant: General Manager Participation and Sport Development

DA has a strong track record of high-performance success, winning a significant number of Olympic, World Championship, Commonwealth and other international medals. Off the back of our most successful ‘away’ Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022, DA is now looking to build momentum as we head towards the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
As a result, we are currently looking to recruit a ‘General Manager (GM), Participation and Sport Development’.
DA has a truly national program with strong State Institute support in five major centres, based at world-class aquatics facilities, with world class coaching and medical support systems. We strive to be the world’s leading diving nation.
About the role
As the GM Participation and Sport Development, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and growth of our sport at all levels to ensure the long-term success and viability of diving in Australia.
Passionate and enthusiastic about participation and sport development, this role will work collaboratively with State based programs, clubs and schools, to drive the systems, planning and programs, focussing on opportunities that improve collective efficiency and effectiveness, to ensure the sport thrives at all levels.
Your core duties will include:
- Expanding participation and inclusion in diving with a focus on recreational and participatory diving, including clubs and schools.
- Developing our coaching, officiating, and volunteering education and support programs to ensure the continued engagement and retention of the diving community within our sport.
- Engaging with key stakeholders to ensure diversity and inclusion in diving, including the development of a diversity, equity, and inclusion action plan.
- Harnessing funding, investment and revenue generating opportunities for grass roots and school development programs through partnership grants and other commercial initiatives.
- Leading and supporting best practice governance through all levels of diving in Australia.
This is a fixed term full-time role, ideally based in Brisbane, offering a competitive package. The contract period is until 31 December 2024.

About you
· Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to influence behaviour.
· Ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines with a can-do attitude and proactive approach to take on new challenges.
· Financial acumen and budgetary management experience including annual planning, forecasting, and contingency planning.
· Relevant Tertiary qualifications and /or demonstrated experience in sports development, sports management or related field.
