AUSTRALIAN SYNCHRO TEAM FINISH OUTSIDE MEDALS IN KAZAN
The Australian women's synchronised platform team of Melissa Wu and Lara Tarvit has finished eighth in their final at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Team captain Wu and Tarvit made a slow start to the final and were unable to make any major impact on the leader board, with China taking another gold, Canada the silver and North Korea the bronze.
Wu, who teamed with Domonic Bedggood to win bronze in the mixed platform synchro on the weekend, will compete in the individual platform event later this week.
Australia has a strong chance of a medal on Tuesday night in Kazan, with both Maddison Keeney and Esther Qin diving strongly in the qualifying rounds of the 1-metre springboard to make the final.
Keeney qualified in fourth position and Qin in sixth.
The Australian men's 3-metre synchro team of Grant Nel and James Connor will also be in action.
