AUSTRALIAN TEAM ARRIVES IN SINGAPORE
A small but talented Australian diving team, headed by Commonwealth Games gold medalist Domonic Bedggood, has arrived in Singapore ahead of this weekend’s FINA Diving Grand Prix.
The three-member team of Bedggood, Sherilyse Gowlett and Matthew Carter will then head to Kuala Lumpur for the final Grand Prix event of 2014 next weekend.
20-year-old Bedggood won gold in the 10-metre platform synchro with Matthew Mitcham at this year’s Commonwealth Games, and will compete in the individual platform in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
18-year-old Sherilyse Gowlett, a member of Australia’s 2013 FINA World Championship team, will compete in the individual 3-metre at both Asian events.
And 14-year-old South Australian diver Matthew Carter will be competing in the 3-metre springboard events.
Carter won a silver medal at an International Youth Diving event in Dresden, Germany, earlier this year after just one year on the SASI squad.
The team will be coached by Michel Larouche.
