PLENTY OF MEDALS FOR AUSTRALIAN DIVERS IN SINGAPORE

Australia’s young diving team has finished with one silver and four bronze medals at the Singapore Grand Prix over the weekend.

Queensland’s Naomi Gowlett picked up three bronze medals throughout the weekend.

The silver medal came in the mixed platform synchro, with Kurtis Mathews and Laura Hingston finishing behind the rampant Chinese, who won all four gold medals on offer on the final day of competition.

Queensland’s Naomi Gowlett picked up a bronze in the women’s 3-metre final, finishing just ahead of fellow Queenslander, Georgia Sheehan.

Gowlett and Sheehan also teamed up to win bronze in the women’s 3-metre synchro.

South Australia’s Matthew Carter finished with a bronze in the men’s 3-metre final, missing silver by less than a point – 390.70 to 390.85.

And Kurtis Matthews and Naomi Gowlett both added to their bronze medal collections with a third placing in the 3-metre mixed synchro on the opening day of competition.

Matthews and Gowlett finished one point off a silver medal.

Olympic silver medalist, Brittany Broben, finished sixth in the final of the women’s platform.

The Grand Prix circuit moves to Kuala Lumpur next weekend, with Australia sending a new team headed by 2012 Olympian, Anabelle Smith.

Australia will host some of the world’s best divers when the Grand Prix moves to the Gold Coast on the final weekend in October.
