Diving Australia (DA) is pleased to announce Commonwealth Games athlete Emily Meaney has been appointed Chair of its Athlete’s Committee.
Meaney takes over at the helm from London 2012 Olympian Rachel Dutschke, who took on the role of Chair in June 2023.
DA Chief Executive Alex Newton offered her congratulations to Meaney, and thanked Dutschke for her service.
“Emily has been an inspiring role model for young divers in Queensland and across the Diving Australia family during her time as an athlete and her dedication to giving back through playing a key role on this committee demonstrates her unwavering commitment to diving and those within it.”
“I am delighted to have Emily take on this important leadership role as we move into the next phase of our sport.”
“I would also like to thank Rachel for her tireless work in leading the committee over the last two years and supporting DA in a number of key athlete-centric projects during that time including the Beyond the Boards Grant and swimwear brand Kozii coming onboard as a partner.”
Emily Meaney said she was delighted to step into the role of Chair.
“I am excited to continue the work we have already done as the Diving Australia Athlete Committee in the new role of Chair,” Meaney said.
I have been a member of the Committee since 2023 during a period of considerable change and I believe this group (past and present) has played a critical role in representing the athlete voice and supporting the diving community. We are fortunate to have a dedicated, approachable, and passionate group of athletes who are keen to work hard alongside Alex to support our athlete’s needs and goals. Exciting times ahead!”
The DA Athlete Committee members are Emily Meaney (Chair), Cassiel Rousseau, Laura Hingston, Olivia O’Rourke, Georgia Sheehan and Ben Wilson.
