AUSTRALIANS READY TO BACK UP SOLID FORM IN DUBAI

Australia’s Diving World Series quartet is set to build on solid performances from last weekend when the second round begins in Dubai today.

With a silver medal from Beijing already tucked away in the hotel safe, courtesy of springboard synchro pair Anabelle Smith and Maddison Keeney, the team will look to add to the haul this weekend.

It hasn’t been the best preparation for the team, arriving in Dubai well after midnight on Monday morning.

But with the fields in Dubai almost exactly the same as Beijing last weekend, all divers will be in the same boat.

The platform synchro team of Melissa Wu and Lara Tarvit finished a close fourth in their first major competition together, and will look to build on that start on Thursday night, Australian time.

They will also be hoping some of their synchro form rubs off on their individual form, after both divers fell short of making the platform final.

Maddison Keeney did make it through to the 3-metre springboard final in Beijing, and will be looking to string together the consistency in Dubai that will put her in medal contention.

And having last weekend finished ahead of the two teams that relegated them to bronze at last year’s Commonwealth Games, Keeney and Smith will be determined to once again make their mark as one of the world’s premiere springboard synchro combinations.

The Dubai World Series begins tonight and runs through until Saturday. Live results can be found here.
