Diving Australia has been working hard to develop its three national competitions, alongside the National Skills Finals and is pleased to announce a calendar of national events for 2024 with improvements reflecting the feedback received from members, officials, parents and athletes.

Many of you told us how important it is to have the 2024 season already locked in, and we have taken onboard this feedback whilst ensuring maximum value for money from our venues as well as giving consideration to the states that did not host an event in 2023.

We are excited to announce that the Age Championships will be expanded to become a ‘Festival of Diving’. An opportunity to showcase all that is good about the sport. There have been some challenges with non-matching national school holidays, but we have tried to minimise the impact on the states who will be in term time. Additionally, and following consultation with the Pathways Coaches, we have moved Elite Juniors to a more appropriate time in the junior calendar, particularly in Junior World years.

We are excited to announce the Diving Australia 2024 events calendar:

• Age Championships will be held at Ringwood Victoria, (9 – 14 April)
• Olympic Trials and Open Nationals in Adelaide South Australia (3 – 9 June)
• Elite Juniors to be held at Sleeman Sports Complex in Brisbane Queensland (23 –29 September)

We have also undertaken a review of the National Skills Final, and this will be expanded to include both Age and Elite pathways, with it becoming the foundation to determine which stream initially a child will progress through.  Dates and location will be announced in the coming weeks, but it will be held over a weekend to ensure we don’t take athletes out of school.

Alongside this, we are working diligently to establish clear and fair processes for each State Association to nominate themselves to host an event. This means that all diving states across Australia will have the opportunity to be a part of our exciting calendar. We want to ensure that the selection process is transparent and accessible to everyone, making it easier for clubs to showcase their unique diving locations, alongside making sure that we make events as self-sustaining as possible.

Moving forward, we plan to confirm events for the following year by July. For example, all 2025 events will be confirmed by July 2024. This advance notice will give you ample time to plan state competition calendars and travel where required.

Awards and Gala dinners will also be re-looked at moving forward, with further information to come in the coming weeks.
