DIVING AUSTRALIA COMMITTEES I APPLICATIONS OPEN

Diving Australia is currently seeking appropriately qualified and interested people for a range of Committees.  It is envisaged that these Committees will be appointed* for a 2 year term through to the end of 2024. 

Please see below information regarding each Committee and an indication of the criteria that will be taken into consideration for appointment, and how to apply. This information should be read in conjunction with the Terms of Reference documents for each Committee. 

Committee Overview

Athlete Committee*

The Athlete Committee is the only Committee that is not appointed. Candidates will be elected to the Committee via an election process utilising the election runner online system. Only current DA registered competitive members (and registered coaches who also compete as athletes) can vote for this Committee. 

The Athlete Committee is tasked with providing an athlete voice to the DA Board to ensure that athlete wellbeing and issues important to athletes are heard by the DA Board. 

Candidates for election must be 18 years or over and be either an active athlete or an athlete who has been retired for less than 12 years.

Coaching Committee

The Coaching Committee is tasked with developing recommendations about the DA National Coaching program and coordinating the provision of coach education. The Coaching Committee will work closely with the DA Coaching Coordinator and other stakeholders within and external to DA. 

Candidates must be current or former coaches (within the last 12 years) of diving.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is tasked with providing support and oversight to the financial function of DA. This includes assisting with reviewing financial statements and working with DA staff on the annual audit process. The Finance Committee will also be involved in the risk management and insurance aspects of DA’s work. 

Candidates must be financially literate and preferably be CPA or CA qualified.

High Diving Committee

The High Diving Committee is tasked with developing the discipline of high diving in Australia (and internationally) by creating awareness and sustainability of this component of the sport. DA has lofty goals for High Diving and the High Diving Committee (and General Manager of HDA) is responsible for progress toward those goals.  

Candidates will be expected to have a strong interest in high diving and commercial acumen to assist in its growth.

National Technical Diving Committee (NTDC)

The NTDC is responsible for the education and progression of technical officials, including accreditation and progress along the officiating pathway. It is also tasked with assisting the Competitions Manager in the smooth running of national events, with a focus on technical aspects. 

Candidates must have significant experience in either judging, recording secretariat or other event support functions.

Nominations Committee

The Nominations Committee assists the Board, and therefore the Members, in the assessment of Board skills mix and the composition, structure and operations of the Board and Senior Management. 

Whilst not essential, it is expected that candidates would have significant business and/or Human Resources experience and have previously served on Nominations Committees.

Selection Committee

The Selection Committee is responsible, in conjunction with the General Manager, High Performance, for the development of appropriate selection polices and, ultimately, for the selection of National Teams and Squads.

It is expected that candidates will have a thorough knowledge of diving and be able to demonstrate independence and fairness in their deliberations and decisions.

HOW TO APPLY

After reading this information and the terms of Reference for the Committee in which you are interested, please complete the application form at DA Committee Nomination Form (office.com).

The form will ask you to indicate which Committee(s) you are interested in nominating for and will also ask for information regarding your suitability for the role (for example, if you are nominating for the Coaches Committee, your coaching history and background). Please provide as much information as possible. 

Whilst it is not a requirement to submit a CV, if you wish to do so, please email it to ceo@diving.org.au with your name and the Committee for which you are nominating in the subject line. 

Nominations close at 5:00 pm Friday, 7 October, 2022. The Board will then consider nominations, with the aim of getting back to all candidates by the end of October 2022. The election for the Athlete Committee will be held in mid to late October 2022.
