DIVING AUSTRALIA AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Following a successful Australian Open Diving Championships, Diving Australia held its Annual Awards function at Victoria’s Mount Dandenong.

The event brought together award winners from the 2021 season and celebrated the people, moments, and results that defined the past 12 months.

Four members were recognised for their volunteering contribution to diving on a national level and their tireless contribution to the success of diving events.

South Australia’s Gavin Wood and Donna Wood, New South Wales’ Chris Lang, and Paul Rankin were presented with 2021 Excellence in Volunteering awards.

Following their success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Melissa Wu and Cassiel Rousseau were announced as winners of the Diving Australia Female and Male Diver of the Year awards respectively.

The 2021 Award for Endeavour, Diving Australia’s pinnacle athlete award, was bestowed upon Sam Fricker.

Sam Fricker shot onto the international stage at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games where he inspired a generation of Australians through his charismatic online presence and happy-go-lucky attitude.

Alongside the 2021 award winners, the Australian Team to compete at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary was announed.

14-year-old Charli Petrov was named as the latest member of the Diving Australia National Squadfollowing her ourstanding performance at the 2022 Australian Open Championships.

Diving Australia wishes to extend its sincere congratulations to all award winners, and all those in the diving community for their success in 2021.
