Diving Australia Announces ACAS Awardees

Published Fri 03 Sep 2021

Diving Australia has today announced the recipients of the 2021 Athlete Committee Athlete Support (ACAS) Program.

This year Diving Australia and the Diving Australia Athlete Committee awarded 10 current and former Australian representatives a share of $20,000 to support education or business projects outside the pool.

Now in its third year, the program continues to support athletes achieve their individual long-term career goals while assisting in alleviating some financial burdens of formal education and early business hurdles.

Since 2019, the program has invested in projects ranging in size and scale from fashion start-ups to supporting tertiary education. Likewise in 2021 the projects awarded cover a range of fields and scope.

Diving Australia Manager, Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement/Child Safe Sport Teri Crilly said the program supports athletes to dually focus on their athletic progress while developing and maintaining external projects.

“For many athletes it can be challenging to balance commitments in and outside of the athletic career,” Crilly said.

“Diving Australia and the Diving Australia Athlete Committee is committed to supporting our divers as they undertake their dual careers.”

“The 2021 ACAS Program is the latest step in that support, and we look forward to continuing to assist well into the future.”
