Aussie divers Cassiel Rousseau and Domonic Bedggood will be looking to make history in the Men’s 10-Metre Synchronised Final at the Paris Aquatics Centre on Monday.

The Men’s 10-Metre Synchronised event has been contested at every Olympics since Sydney 2000, and across the six Games Australia has only finished on the podium once - Mathew Helm and Robert Newbery’s bronze medal in Athens 2004.

Mathew’s bronze medal at Athens 2004 was part of the Australian Diving team’s most successful Games campaign, where they won one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.

When Cassiel and Domonic stand atop of the platform tomorrow, the support of the past medalists won’t be far away, Mathew currently coach of Domonic through at the Victorian Institute of Sport.

Cassiel and Domonic finished sixth at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships, earning Australia a quota to compete at the Paris Olympic Games. The pair won a bronze medal at the Diving World Cup in Berlin in March 2024.

The Aussies will face tough competition from a strong field of eight teams, including Tokyo medalists China and Great Britain.

Champion Tom Daley will make his return to the Olympic stage, alongside new synchro partner Noah Williams. In Tokyo, Daley won the event stopping a Chinese sweep on all diving events at the Games.

Junjie Lian and Hao Yang of China will be the favourites, with China having won four of the six Olympic gold medals in the history of the event.

The divers will perform six dives - two compulsories and four optionals - with the total score of all six dives combined to produce final results.

The Men’s 10-Metre Synchronised Final will be on Channel 9 and 9Now from 7pm AEST on Monday 29 July.
