Countdown to #Glasgow2014 - Lara Tarvit
Published Mon 28 Jul 2014
Next up we take a quick look at Lara Tarvit!
Lara Tarvit and diving were always going to be a perfect fit. The 17-year-old came to the sport having already represented her country in the sport of trampolining. Not surprisingly she was a standout as a 10-year-old at a National Talent Identification event.
It's that background that has made Lara one of Australia's most versatile divers, and although in Glasgow she will compete in the individual and synchro platform events, she is also a very accomplished springboard diver.
In the lead up to Glasgow, Lara made the final of the 10-metre platform at the FINA World Cup in Shanghai, finishing 8th in the strongest platform field assembled this year.
Her career highlight in synchro came at last year's FINA World Championships in Barcelona, where she teamed up with long-time diving partner Emily Boyd to finish fourth. The pair started their careers together in the springboard synchro but it's the high board where they have tasted most success.
Born in Victoria, Lara now calls Brisbane home and trains at Chandler Pool. And her key to remaining calm during competition? Never look at the scoreboard!
