Countdown to #Glasgow2014 - Georgia Sheehan

Published Fri 25 Jul 2014

Today we take a look at the youngest member of the Diving Team, Georgia Sheehan!

Diving has a habit of providing the youngest members of Australian and Commonwealth Games squads, and Glasgow will be no different, courtesy of Brisbane schoolgirl Georgia Sheehan.

Georgia turned 15 just two weeks before Glasgow, and is set to become a household name.

This year the high school student has been balancing her studies with her drive to make the Australian team, which she did after an outstanding performance at the Melbourne selection trials.

Georgia has been training approximately 28 hours a week in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games, where she'll compete in the 1-metre springboard.

Like so many of Australia's top divers, Georgia comes from a gymnastics background, but admits her dream has always been to represent Australia in diving at a Commonwealth Games.

Georgia showed she is a diver going places when she won individual 3-metre silver and teamed with Naomi Gowlett to win 3-metre gold at an International youth diving event in Dresden, Germany, this year.
