Ben Wilson to join the DA Athlete Committee
Published Thu 12 Dec 2024
Ben became the seventh member of the AC following a DA board meeting held in early December, where a decision was reached to expand the committee from six to seven members.
The AC was established to enshrine the athlete’s voice into the corporate, high performance and community decision making process.
Ben brings to the position a plethora of experience, particularly in relation to the transition of athletes from junior to senior levels.
Selected as a member of the DA Dream Squad, Ben continues to exemplify excellence both in and out of the pool.
The 18-year-old recently competed in his last World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships in Rio, where he picked up a silver medal as part of the Mixed 3M and 10M Team Event as well as a top four finish in the Boy’s A 3M Synchronised Event.
DA CEO Alex Newton is encouraged to see the expansion of the AC and is pleased to see the appointment of another young accomplished athlete to the committee.
“We are delighted that Ben is joining the committee, not only adding to the diversity of the group, but also bringing invaluable experience of an athlete transitioning from junior to senior ranks”.
Ben will be appointed alongside National Squad member Georgia Sheehan, whose appointment was confirmed in November.
