CONNOR BRINGS UP DIVING DOUBLE IN ADELAIDE

Victorian James Connor has won his second Australian diving title in as many days, securing the 3-metre final at the South Australian Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

The 19-year-old won the 1-metre title on Friday, and will be looking to make it a winning treble when he competes in Sunday's final of the platform event.

Connor, who dived for Australia at the London Olympics, has recently returned from a stint diving for Indiana in the US college system.

He finished the 3-metre final with 417.15, with Queensland's Kurtis Mathews second with 370.65, and South Australia's Matthew Barnard third with 366.15.

It was a much closer affair in the women's 3-metre synchro final, with Commonwealth Games bronze medalists Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith just holding out Samantha Mills and Esther Qin.

Keeney and Smith finished with 308.40 points, with Mills and Qin finishing on 307.20.

It was a Queensland quinella in the women's platform, with Emily Meaney finishing ahead of Lara Tarvit.

Meaney finished with 301.80, with Tarvit on 293.95. Western Australia's Teju Williamson was third with 285.20.

Along with James Connor's attempts at a trifecta, the 3-metre women's springboard final will be a highlight on the final day of the Australian Open.

The top four qualifiers for the final, Anabelle Smith, Georgia Sheehan, Esther Qin and Maddison Keeney, all represented Australia at this year's Commonwealth Games.

Qin won the gold at Edinburgh, while Smith is a London Olympian and Sheehan a World Junior champion.

Keeney won two medals at the Commonwealth Games.
