AUSTRALIAN DIVERS EYE WORLD CUP SUPER FINAL SPOTS

Published Wed 02 Apr 2025

Nine of Australia’s top divers are set to begin their first major international event of the year with the first of three 2025 World Aquatics Diving World Cups in Guadalajara.

The World Cup Series will see 120 of the worlds best battle it out over two stops - Guadalajara, Mexico and Windsor, Canada..From the two stops, the 12 best divers and synchro pairings, based on cumulative results, progress to the Super Final in Beijing, China.

Guadalajara gets underway Friday morning April 4 (AEST) and will feature Australian Olympians Maddison Keeney, Cassiel Rousseau, Alysha Koloi, Jaxon Bowshire and Ellie Cole for the first time since Paris.

Joining them are rising stars Jonah Mercieca, Hudson Skinner and Ruby Drogemuller as well as Diving Australia veteran Laura Hingston, who is set to make her return to the international stage.

Diving Australia High Performance Director Steve Foley said the team is a well rounded group who are ready to mix it with the world’s best.

“We have a great team, with a mix of young and experienced athletes,” said Foley. “This is going to be a pretty big event with some pretty big fields, which is a real good test and a chance for our athletes, specially the new ones, to see how they match up against the world's best.

“In its own way it is a good stepping stone for the World Championships later this year”.

The first stop finishes on Monday April 7, before all nine Australian divers head to Windsor, Canada, to compete from Friday April 11 till Monday April 14 for the second stop of the Cup.

Then all paths lead to Beijing for the re-configured Super Final, where the top 12 individual divers from across the world are seeded against each other in a three stage grand eliminator in May.

While the format remains unchanged for team and synchronised events, the reinvigorated grand decider for individual 10m Platform and 3m Springboard events is set to pave the way for a new exciting chapter of diving.
