Anabelle Smith has today been announced as an Ambassador for the AIS Black Dog Mental Fitness Program.

Anabelle, fresh off her third Olympic Games, will join a group of 20 athletes from 16 sports in providing mental health strategies to children aged between 12 and 16.

“I am thrilled to have been chosen as an AIS Mental Fitness Program Ambassador,” Smith said. “Wellbeing is extremely important to me, and this program provides me with a wonderful platform to positively influence school kids and sporting groups.

“Thanks to the work I’ve done with my own psychology and wellbeing support team, I have a wealth of experience and knowledge that I cannot wait to share with young people, and inspire them to take control of their mental fitness.”

Diving Australia Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement/ Child Safe Sport Manager Teri Crilly says Anabelle’s appointment to the program will offer unique insight.

“Anabelle will be an enthusiastic and passionate edition to the AIS mental fitness program,” Crilly said. “We have seen Anabelle have a positive impact in the community through her voluntary and advocacy work, including her participation in the Lifeline Community Custodian program in 2019.

“We are incredibly proud of Anabelle and all that she has done to give back and help support others in the community.  As a part of the Mental Fitness Program Anabelle will have the opportunity to continue this vital work and spread the mental health message throughout schools across Australia.”

Anabelle is the second Diving Australia National Squad member to be an Ambassador with the program, following Declan Stacey’s commitment last year.
