The Diving Australia Board is pleased to announce that Alex Newton has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer, after an extensive recruitment process.

Newton is the current Director, Sports Strategy and Investment at the Australian Institute of Sport, and brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role.

DA Chair Mike Murphy welcomed Newton to the role.

“The Board and I are excited to have someone with Alex’s skills, experience and qualifications to further develop Diving Australia from the grassroots to high performance,” Murphy said.

“She is a collaborative leader who is keen to get out and about to meet the many people who are the backbone of our sport.

“As part of that, in early December, Alex will be attending a two day face-to-face session with our State Associations, where she will begin to gather the information that she needs to lead the finalisation of our new strategic plan.

“We very much look forward to welcoming Alex as she steps into the role of CEO at an exciting time, leading us along the green and gold runway to Brisbane 2032,” he said.

Murphy also thanked outgoing CEO David Bell for his service over his nine year tenure.

“The Board and I thank David for all he has contributed and wish him and his family the best in the future,” Murphy said.

Newton will commence in the role on Monday 21 November, with Bell to help manage the transition period.
