ACAS Program Application Period Opens

Published Wed 23 Jun 2021

For the third year running, Diving Australia is pleased to open applications for the Athlete Committee Athlete Support Program.

Since its inception in 2019, the Program has provided considerable financial support for current and former elite Australian divers.

The 2021 edition of the Program is open to any athletes that has held a SIS/SAS or AIS Diving Scholarship at any time.

2020 Grant Awardee and Olympic Medallist Anabelle Smith said the Program helped support her external career development.

“The ACAS Program funded the production of my website that I spent the majority of Melbourne’s COVID-19 lockdown designing and creating,” Smith said.

“It also gave me the opportunity to take an online finance course to increase my business knowledge and financial literacy.

“Without this funding, I wouldn’t have taken the steps to up-skill and grow my personal brand.”

Diving Australia Manager, Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement/Safe Sport Teri Crilly said the Program has gone from strength to strength.

“For elite athletes it can at times be challenging to balance both a competitive life in the pool with a professional life outside,” Crilly said.

“The Diving Australia Athlete Committee Athlete Support Program is designed to assist our divers and alumni in alleviating some financial pressures of study, personally development, or business endeavours.

“In our third year now, we are incredibly proud of the program and can’t wait to assist this year’s recipients.”

Applications for the Athlete Committee Athlete Support Program close Wednesday 7 July 2021.
