A Fresh Start For Tasmanian Diving

Published Fri 06 Aug 2021

Diving Tasmania has today announced that Jesse Carver has been appointed to the new role of Program Coach/Co-ordinator.

This comes after diving returned to the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre (DKHAC) for the first time in nearly 2 years.

It was fantastic to see nearly 30 children get underway again, under longstanding coaches Mel and Bella Kateros, and Diving Tasmania and Diving Australia wish to thank the DKHAC Management and the Hobart City Council for their support.

Jesse will be relocating to Hobart in the coming weeks to provide coaching and administration for the Tasmanian program to enable Mel and Bella to continue to coach but to also undertake their busy “day jobs”.

Jesse is well known in the diving community as a former diver, competing domestically and internationally and also performing high dive shows on cruise ships for many years. He is also a member of the famous Donnet family – mother Barbi an excellent diver and coach herself, and aunt Jenny and grandmother Barbara both Australian Diving Olympians. He is an experienced and accomplished coach and administrator and will bring great stability, vision and direction to the Tasmanian diving program.

Diving Tasmania President, David Hanlon said, “we are thrilled to have Jesse join us in Hobart and are confident he will breathe new life into diving in Tasmania.

“Supported by Mel, Bella and others, we are excited at what opportunities will now be available for people to dive in Tassie”.

For Term 3, we are offering Monday and Wednesday afternoon classes commencing at 4:00 pm. We will be looking to increase the number of classes available in Term 4.
