2015 ADGP, Brisbane - Day One

Published Fri 23 Jan 2015

Queensland's Lara Tarvit has made it back-to-back platform titles at the Australian Diving Grand Prix, following her victory on the Gold Coast last weekend with another win today in Brisbane.

There were also encouraging signs for Olympic silver medalist, Brittany Broben, who posted her highest score since returning from shoulder surgery to finish third.

Splitting Tarvit and Broben was 15-year-old Perth schoolgirl, Teju Williamson, who underlined her future potential with a mature diving performance.

17-year-old Tarvit is one of Australia's most versatile divers, and has set her sights in 2015 on competing in 3-metre springboard, individual and synchro platform and, if she can find a partner, 3-metre synchro.

But it's the platform where she is making her name. After finishing an unlucky fourth at last year's Commonwealth Games, she went on to win the World Junior title in Russia and has now won the first two Grand Prix events of 2015.

In other events, Adelaide's Brodie Scapens won the men's 3-metre springboard title, while Commonwealth Games bronze medalists Anabelle Smith and Maddison Keeney won the 3-metre synchro.

The Brisbane Grand Prix continues tomorrow, with two Commonwealth Games gold medalists scheduled to compete - Esther Qin in the women's 3-metre, and Domonic Bedggood in the men's platform.
