Role of a Mentor

As a mentor, you will have a wide range of stories, insight, and personal experiences from Diving to share with your mentee. Mentors are encouraged to share personal experiences and use that information to help guide an athlete through similar experiences within the sport of diving.

It is important to note, however, when the conversation moves beyond your scope.

A Mentor is Not

  • A mental health advisor or sports Psychologist
  • A parent
  • A coach
  • An AW&E Manager/Advisor
  • A decision maker

If you have recognised that a mentoring session has moved beyond your scope, please contact Diving Australia’s Manager, Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement/Child Safe Sport at mentor@diving.org.au to assist you with an appropriate referral.
