Mentor - The Process

You Have Been Matched With Your Mentee, Now What?

Mentees are advised to contact their mentor once a pairing has been made, however if you do not hear from your mentee within a week of being notified of the match, please feel free to reach out to them!

*Please note if your mentee is under 18 years of age you will be required to cc a parent/guardian into all communication including email and text messages (please see the Mentor Program Terms and Conditions for more information on the use of technology and Child Safety)

If you are having difficulties making contact with your mentee, please contact Diving Australia Manager, Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement/Child Safe Sport.

We Have Contact

Once you have been paired with your mentee, we recommend you have your first session as soon as possible to keep the excitement and momentum going!

The Introductory Meeting

To ensure the best pairing of mentor and mentee, you may find that you reside in a different state to your mentee. Luckily, there are some wonderful online platforms whereby you can be face to face with your mentee to maximise your mentoring relationship, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype and WhatsApp.

Coordinating the Mentoring Relationship

  • Decide on what works best for each of you for mode of contact. You may decide your mentoring sessions be held on Zoom, Teams, Skype or in some cases face to face.

  • Be sure to confirm your next mentoring session at the end of each conversation. As everyone is extremely busy (mentors included!), this ensures time is set aside in the diary that works for both parties.

  • If at any time you are having difficulties getting in touch with your mentee please contact Diving Australia Manager, Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement/Child Safe Sport
