About Kurtis

After competing at his first Commonwealth Games on home soil in 2018, Mathews was named to his first Australian senior team for a World Aquatics Championships in 2024, partnering with Tokyo Olympian Sam Fricker in the Men’s 3-Metre Springboard Synchronised event. Mathews is also known to the American fans for giving Texas A&M University their first ever NCAA diving titles, winning both the 1-Metre and 3-Metre competitions at the 2022 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

●      What has been the greatest influence on your sporting career? My coaches, Jay Lerew, Joel Rodriguez, Chava Sobrino. On the athletes’ side, Kevin Chavez.

●      Who is your diving inspiration? Sam Fricker.

●      Favourite place to dive: Sydney Olympic Park

●      Hobbies outside of diving: Reading.

●      If you were not a diver, what sport would you do? Rugby Union.
