About JaxonBorn in South Australia, Jaxon Bowshire is one of the most exciting springboard and platform divers to come out of the South Australian Sports Institute program in recent years. After making his first senior Australian team at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Jaxon announced he was joining the Texas A&M University diving team in 2024, following in the wake of other Australian divers who preceded him in the prestigious program. ● How did you get your start in diving? At the age of four, I followed my sister Lacey into diving and always aimed to be as good as she was. I loved gymnastics, but when Lacey trained diving on the Gold Coast, I was lucky enough to have access to dry land training facilities. Cliff diver Steve Black watched over me and gave me useful tips and it is safe to say I learned a lot very early from him. ● What has been the greatest influence on your sporting career? Duncan Roy, he managed to transform me from a crazy kid through to a dedicated diver. I owe the man a lot. ● Who is your diving inspiration? Ross Todd, I looked up to Ross as a really young kid and continue to do so, he is a great guy with a brilliant attitude to life. ● What do you love about diving? The adrenaline of competing and pushing myself to the limit. ● Most challenging part of diving? Getting over the fear of the dive and building consistency. ● Favourite place to dive: South Australian Aquatic and Leisure Centre ● Something you might not know about me: I’m hoping to study aerospace engineering at university, in the USA. ● Hobbies outside of diving: I am a huge fan of motor racing and spend hours driving on a racing simulator at home. ● If you were not a diver, what sport would you do? Karting or motor racing International Results
